Beginning Again: Flourishing in Community

I'm starting this fresh year with a quote and image from Michael Meade:

“…the aim of traditional New Year was not simply the turning over of a calendar, but the understanding that a capacity for transformation and regeneration resides at the heart of nature, at the center of the cosmos and in the heart of humanity as well. The point was not to be naive and deny problems that must be faced, but to return to the origins of creation and symbolically participate in the capacity of life to renew itself.”
Here’s our question to consider together:
How are you being led into transformation and regeneration in 2025?
Even if it’s a subtle hint or an inner whisper, let’s ask ourselves,
What forms of personal creativity and renewal are calling us as individuals to serve the greater good of local and global community?
There’s a lot I could respond to, so I’ll be succinct.
I am being invited to amp up my gift of writing. I’m trusting that out of this past year of profound cosmic realignment, fresh forms of inner and outer community want to emerge through my creative communal leadership and my wildest soul gifts.
As I think about what holds me back from being a more dedicated writer, I realize that as a communal being, writing alone with the kind of commitment needed often feels overly self-serving. Somehow, I urgently need the presence of a trustworthy community to spark my fire! I need you to join me as I join you in whatever forms of soul life are ready to emerge.
We are interdependent beings who need each other to witness and champion our soul’s deepest gifts. This is individual work that cannot be done alone!
I will write from within a Circle of Trust, where, as Robin Wall Kimmerer has said – “All Flourishing is Mutual.” As I dedicate myself to write this year, I will offer some monthly virtual “flourishing circles.” I long to do that in your company! I am inviting each of you that are seeking that core heart of the matter – your essence, your creativity for the thriving of your individual and communal selves.
Malidoma Some has written a great deal about this in The Healing Wisdom of Africa – it’s clear that I have re-tapped that aspect of my life in my recent trip to Angola. Listen to this and see if it lands in your heart:
“Individuality, not individualism, is the cornerstone of community. Individuality is synonymous with uniqueness. This means that a person and his or her unique gifts are irreplaceable. The community loves to see all of its members flourish and function at optimal potential. In fact, a community can flourish and survive only when each member flourishes, living in the full potential of his or her purpose. To honor and support its members is in the self-interest of any community.”
I took these pictures at the Martin Luther King Memorial in LA last year. They seem appropriate to urge us on to keep moving forward:
SO – whether you are an artist, an entrepreneur, or an acrobat in training, I have an invitation for you. If you are a student or a mature therapist or lost in the woods, listen up. If you’re retired or an over-busy, weary worker bee, or if you are physically unable to leave your home, in this next season of 2025, I am calling you to partner together with a group of like-minded souls.
More details will follow in the next days. There’s not going to be a big financial or even time commitment – it will be all up to you how you wish to be a part of an emerging communal experience where we each say YES to our soul’s deepest creative energy. There will be a place for everyone. If you want to know more and are ready to say yes to the next months of adventure, please make sure I have your contact information – sign up at the bottom of this page to receive notification of my next blogs. This is my first step of gathering a cluster of community and digging deeper into a 2025 JOURNEY of FLOURISHING.
I leave you with these questions again:
How are you being led into transformation and regeneration in 2025?
Even if it’s a subtle hint or an inner whisper, let’s ask ourselves,
What forms of personal creativity and renewal are calling us as individuals to serve the greater good of local and global community?
Please count me in!
